I can't believe we have been here for 3 whole months! I think I am finally here. I am starting to feel more at home with my surroundings. As I was driving to work this morning I enjoyed looking around at all the palm trees. With Shawn and I carpooling now I get to drive on a city street to work instead of the freeway the whole way. The area around the college campus is very nice. The weather has been very pleasant, 50's at night 70 during the day. Today marks the end of my first week as a permanent employee at the credit union. I am very happy there.
We had our monthly staff meeting this morning. This is the first company I have worked with that opens their staff meeting by asking for prayer requests and the CEO says a short prayer. He talked this morning about how the banks are trying to pass legislation to take away the tax exempt status of credit unions. This is not good for any member of a credit union. If the credit unions have to start paying taxes they will raise the fees and rates for the members. There is an upcoming hearing regarding this issue on November 3rd. If you would please check out the following website. http://www.connectforthecause.org It has a place to send a letter via email so make a stand against removing the tax exempt status of credit unions. Even if you are not a credit union member, if this legislation passes it will take away the competitive market the banks currently have. Ok, I will get of the soapbox now.
Shawn is doing well in school. This morning I helped him review for his quiz on the greek alphabet. Yes, I did say greek alphabet...It is for his biblical languages class. One more reason I am glad it is him and not me back in school.
ok, enough for now....my bed is calling me

My Mom also works for a Christian company and having prayer in the work place, Bible studies, etc. is so nice for her and sometimes I walk in there and tell her how lucky she is...and now, how lucky are you?! :)
I just think it's great. We don't do any of that stuff at my little office, but we do have the radio on a Christian station and the patients hear it in the lobby. It's something. :)
I will check out the web site for the credit union thing, I am a member and I do care! :) Thanks for that info.
love,
heather
